  • IM is a popular form of realtime communicationwhere two or more people exchange text messages online via computer. Users have a “screen name” and a “buddy list” of their friends, family, colleagues, etc. to see who is online and available at any given time. Some popular IM applications are AOL’s Instant Messenger (AIM), MSN Messenger, Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger.
