Political career

He is the designer of Lingala Canal in Kadapa District. He started services to community through Lions club and then he became Samithi President and then became MLA for couple of times and then MP.He used to call with the name bhogala hari siva kumar reddy most of the time.

In the year 1999 he won with more than 90,000 majority from Pulivendula which is the highest majority throughout the state. In the year 2004 he won with more than 1,10,000 majority against MV Mysoora Reddy. Recently his son-in-law, Mr. Rajasekhar Reddy claimed that Y.S. Viveka is more popular in Pulivendula, Kadapa than late YSR; because Viveka won the elections with big margins than YSR’s margins.

However, in the 2009 General Elections, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of Legendary Chief Minister of AP, late Dr. YSR contested in the elections and won the election with a record biggest margin at that point of time.
In September 2009, Viveka is elected as an MLC to Andhra Pradesh legistlative in council. On 30 11 2010 he became Agriculture Minster in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet headed by Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, against the wishes of his brother's son YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Later, in the 2011 Pulivendula bye-elections caused due to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his mother YS Vijayamma leaving congress to form YSR Congress. He contested on congress seat against his Late brother's wife YS Vijayamma. Though secured 2nd position, lost by a huge margin of 80,000 and odd votes, just managed to get the deposit.
