 since 1999.

Format

The league is placed as a double round robin with the champion qualifying for the UEFA Women's Champions League.

The only tiebreakers are:
  1. Points
  2. Number of wins

If two teams are still tied after that, a playoff match is held. That was the case in 2010, when ASA Tel Aviv and Maccabi Kishronot Hadera were tied for 1st place with 61 points and 20 wins. Goal difference 166–3 (ASA) vs 130–11 and direct matches 3–0 and 0–1 for ASA were not taken into account. ASA won the title with a 6–0 playoff win.

In 2000–11 a playoff system is in place with the top four teams advancing after the regular season, a double round-robin

. The championship group adds to the points of the regular season. Teams play each other only twice again in that group.

Champions

Before the creation of the league two championships of Israel were held. The 1998 edition was won by Maccabi Haifa and the 1998/99 edition by Tel-Aviv University. There was no championship held in 2004
