. The aim of Woden's Folk is to create a new folkish religion for the English, rooted in the worship of the old gods of England. The immediate aim of the group is to prepare the way for the manifestation of the English Avatar, HelgiH, which is said to be a specific form of the god Kalki. This avatar is also described as The Hooded Man, and is seen as an incarnation of Woden. Woden's Folk encourages its supporters to prepare themselves for the possibility of a coming disaster. The group promotes and teaches bushcraft skills, and other survivalist techniques as a means of self-reliance should such an event (or events) come to pass. The year 2012 is frequently referred to as a significant date in England's future as the Olympics are being held that year. Woden's Folk was founded on April 23rd 1998 by the folk warder, Wulf, following a series of mystical experiences centred around the appearance of the Hale Bopp comet in 1997.

Purpose

The group's official website states that their purpose is to prepare the way for the coming of the English avatar, who is variously identified as The Hooded Man, Woden, HelgiH and Kalki.

"Woden's Folk was set up to prepare the way for the coming of The Hooded Man who is the Crowned and Conquering Son who will incarnate when the Hanged God is swallowed by the Wolf. This astronomical event will take place at the Winter Sunwend of Year 12 : Age of Ing (2012)."

Woden's Folk is a unique Wodenist Movement that rejects the old archetype of the Hanged God in favour of The Avenging Son who is the archetypal god-image for the new world-age - the Age of Ing or Age of the Son ("Ing" means "son of). This new god-form is Widar the Avenger, the Woodland Warrior whom we know as The Hooded Man.

Prophecies

The Woden's Folk website presents an apocalyptic, rhyming prophecy attributed to the founder of the group, Wulf.

The Hooded Man Prophecy was given in a dream to Wulf Ingessunu on October 31st 1993 and is the basis of the teachings of Woden's Folk. This prophecy is an altered version of the Prophecies of Gildas which appeared in the "Robin of Sherwood" TV series of the 1980s.

"In the Days of the Lion, spawned of the Evil Brood, The Hooded Man shall come to the forest. There he will meet with Herne the Hunter - Lord of the Trees - to be his Son and do his bidding. The Power of Light and the Power of Darkness shall be strong within him. And the guilty shall tremble!"

This prophecy declares that the purpose of Woden's Folk is to create a balance between the Power of Light and the Power of Darkness, this being symbolised by the Seventh Sword of Wayland - Albion. Albion, of course, is the most ancient name of England.

Ar-Kan Rune-Lag

The Woden's Folk website states that the group uses a "a new runic system devised by Wulf" entitled the "Ar-Kan Rune-Lag" system. The group defines the concept further:
"The name Ar-Kan Rune-Lag has various meanings at different levels, but its most basic meaning is The Aryan Secret Way. This derives from Ar-Kan = Aryan, Rune = Secret, and Lag = Way/Laws. This idea takes us back into the ancient world of our most ancient ancestors - descendants of the Solar Race or Shining Ones. These were the mythical figures with a shining countenance who brought knowledge, wisdom & understanding to all peoples, but whose presence upon Earth grew less as the downward time-cycle progressed into the Dark Age we live through today. The true meaning of the term Aryan means "Movement Generator" or "Sun-Generator" which relates to energy, creation and upward evolution."

Publications

Woden's Folk publish two bi-annual magazines, Spear of Woden and Sword of Wayland. Two books, English Runic Mysteries, and Wera: The Solar Warrior, of a projected trilogy have so far been published.
