Synopsis

This third film is about Takuma Tsurugi
Takuma Tsurugi
is a fictional character and amoral anti-hero in The Street Fighter film trilogy, played by Japanese actor Sonny Chiba. He is a martial arts expert and a mercenary for hire, usually employed by the Yakuza, though at times he would get double cross, leading him to exact revenge...

being hired to find tapes dealing with making heroin, for which he gets paid. Along the way, he gets double crossed and his girl friend is murdered. So he goes for revenge against the criminals who hired him.

Alternate versions

At least in the U.S. version, the true plot was changed drastically. The original plot involved a mobster named Owada hiring Tsurugi to get his brother out of trouble. But when he is double-crossed, Tsurugi steals a tape in order to blackmail a powerful oil corporation involved in governmental corruption. The tape ends up in the hands of a corrupt prosecutor known as Kunigami, who knows a special form of karate that dwarfs Tsurugi's.

In addition to the plot changes, many scenes have been moved into different sequences. Much like the first U.S. release of The Street Fighter, much of the violence was cut to avoid the X-rating. One deleted scene involves Tsurugi ripping Kunigami's heart out of his chest. Aside from a LaserDisc release in the U.S., the original cut in its entirety has been sold only in Japan, the United Kingdom and France.
