Reception

Largely panned by critics when it was originally released, today the album's reputation has improved, with Allmusic reviewer Dave Thompson saying that "producer Bruce Baxter was nothing if not absurdly ambitious" and that "Indeed, the only performances that you really need to avoid are the ones that were despicable to begin with"[]
