The college accepts children from the age of eleven through to eighteen, and accommodates approximately 850 students. There were four houses: Corinth, Valletta, Damascus and Lystra but it know features the form Rome as the school prepares to expand the number of students and wish to hold 1,250 students by 2014. Each form is a place significant to St. Paul's life. The school has played a role in advancing the role of e-learning in the classroom, as well as being a fair-trade school, encouraging student support for good causes, both locally and worldwide.
The college first opened on 10 September 1963 as a modern secondary school serving the Mid-Sussex area. It was originally situated in the nearby town of Haywards Heath, but relocated to its current site at the northwestern edge of Burgess Hill in September 2004.
