1974 Flood

Due to St Johns Woods' geography (being bordered on three sides by Enoggera Creek), there is a high risk of flooding on the lower streets. Exactly this happened in 1974, in the Brisbane 1974 Flood. Waters in Enoggera Creek rose by up to 6.5 metres and many houses were washed away. Today parks take their place and provide a buffer against repeated flooding.
