It was created in 1847 when Solør og Odalen District Court was split in two; Solør and Vinger and Odal. The headquarters were at Flisa

. In 2006 Solør District Court ceased to exist. Grue was transferred to Vinger and Odal, which was renamed Glåmdal District Court
