Sha'arei Tikva is an Israeli settlement

located at an elevation of 200 metres north-east of Rosh HaAyin
and one kilometre east of the Green Line
near Elkana
in the north-western West Bank
. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law

Founded in 1983 through a government decision, the first residents moved to the new village in April 1983. Its current population is about 4,500 people in about 1,200 families. The village is run by a local committee under the umbrella municipal jurisdiction of the Shomron Regional Council
. The head of that committee is Gideon Idan.
