Services Québec is an agency created in December 2004 by the Government of Quebec

The Government of Quebec refers to the provincial government of the province of Quebec. Its powers and structure are set out in the Constitution Act, 1867....

 to improve the delivery of public services to both citizens and businesses. The agency was created to overhaul the way in which the provincial government provides services to the public, in order to facilitate interaction with the government.

Up until the creation of the agency, the government had delivered services through its departments and agencies. These bodies responded to requests from citizens and businesses within the scope of their respective missions, the result a multitude of complicated contacts, steps and forms. Citizens and businesses had to navigate the complexity of government agencies on their own. The Quebec

 gouvernment intended the creation of the agency to create a single gateway for all citizens and business to access government programs and services.

Mission

The mission of Services Québec is to offer citizens and businesses throughout the province a single, multiservice window for simplified access to public and government services.

Operation

Services Québec is under the responsibility of Chair of the Conseil du trésor and minister responsible for Government Administration , Michelle Courchesne

. It is headed by President and Director General Guylaine Rioux.

The agency is a public body established as a legal person. Its affairs are managed by a board of directors composed of the president and director general and ten government-appointed members from various sectors.

Special mandate: Emergency communications

Services Québec is also responsible for coordinating government communications when disaster strikes regionally or across Quebec.

Consequently, in emergency situations, Services Québec ensures rapid communication of accurate, coherent information adapted to the needs of the disaster victims, the population in general and the media. The information describes the current situation and the emergency measures taken or planned by the Government of Quebec to protect individuals and property.
