In 2008 Karnataka assembly elections, he contested against Congress leader M. K. Somashekar, a former MLA from Krishnaraja constituency of a Mysore district
and won by a margin of 20000 votes. He had been elected from this constituency, 2 times earlier in 1994 and 1999 but had lost to M.K.Somashekar in 2004.
In September 2008, he was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary
to the Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa.
Ramadass is also a current president of his voluntary organisation Aasare.
Ramdass is a former medical education minister of karnataka, having to step down after B.S. Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation.
