Dr Roger I. Nokes is an Associate Professor and Head of Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury
, New Zealand. In 2008 he was voted the best lecturer in the University by students. His speciality is in the area of Fluid Mechanics in which he has undertaken a broad range of research.
In 2006, Dr. Nokes was awarded a National Teaching Award for tertiary teaching excellence.
