. With Sidney D. Kirkpatrick and Cecil H. Chilton, Perry supervised the production of the 4th edition, published in 1963. Robert H. Perry and Cecil H. Chilton together edited the 5th edition, released early in 1973.

Mr. Chilton having died of heart disease, Dr. Don W. Green was chosen to edit the 6th edition. Robert H. Perry had been an adviser to him during Don's work on a doctoral degree.

During this editorial process, Robert H. Perry - a resident of England in 1978 - was killed as a pedestrian when struck by a car.
