After being Managed by Canto Robledo, Gonzalez was managed by Francisco Espinoza.

Raul Gonzalez debuted as a professional on March 20, 1987, when he was 20 years old. The fight was against Timothy Mosley, in a contest that was a draw in the fourth round. Over the course of his amateur career, Gomzalez didn't have many fights.
