The name comes from the German word meaning rapid, pronounced ʁaˈpiːt.

The futuristic six-car Rapi:t trainsets, officially designated as the Nankai 50000 series, were designed by architect Wakabayashi Hiroyuki and won the Blue Ribbon Prize in 1995, 1 year after entering service.

Station Stops

There are two classes of Rapi:t service. Rapi:t β takes 34 minutes from Namba to Kansai Airport, stopping at Shin-Imamiya, Tengachaya, Sakai, Kishiwada, Izumisano, and Rinkū Town. Rapi:t α takes 29 minutes, stopping at Shin-Imamiya, Tengachaya, Izumisano, and Rinku Town. Both trains cost ¥1,390 for a one-way ticket, ¥500 more than the normal rapid service train.

β trains operate every day, with a β train per hour from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. and 2 β trains per hour from 10 a.m. until the last train on weekdays. There are only three α trains in the morning on weekdays (departing Namba for Kansai Airport at 7 o'clock a.m., 8 o'clock a.m. and 9 o'clock a.m.). On Saturdays and holidays, there are only 2 β trains per hour. All seats are reserved.
