Ragnarökkr Metal Apocalypse began in 2011. The first festival was October 1, 2011 and was held in Chicago, Illinois. Although smaller than most metal festivals, it boasted a large number of nationally touring bands, a friendly atmosphere, and another destination for metal fans to see a large number of talent in one place.
