Princess (British R&B singer)

Princess is a Filipino singer, young, pretty, animated and voluptuous. Her voice is responsible for the hit acoustic remakes in the album “Addicted To You”. She has now become the newest “Acoustic Princess”.
Princess possessed a voice that leaves everyone in a relaxed state. Being a music afionada, she listens to almost all kind of music ranging from funk, rock to standards and jazz. Among her musical influences are the admirable acts like The Corrs, Plum, Jewel, Kelly Clarkson, Alanis and other artists of the same genre. Though she mainly does light-pop music, she also had her professional trainings in jazz and bossa nova in her two previous bands.
After TV programs like MTV Unplugged, where the show presents singers rearranging songs into its acoustic version, this unique version became so popular since early 90’s. It is classified into two: the Latin beat called bossa nova or the striped down arrangement of pop hits like what Princess had been doing.
The remaking of the song became a trend and as Filipinos positively responds to it, many record labels are looking for an acoustic artists who would somehow be able to pacify the needs of the music genres’ devotees.
Equipped with vocals perfectly fitted for such undertaking, Vicor Records released Addicted To Acoustic, an 18-track collection album of some popular foreign hits modified acoustically. The voice behind the album is a relatively new, Princess Velasco.
Princess is very successful in doing remakes especially in tracks that is almost impossible to warble by no uncommon musicians. But she proved her versatility in tracks like Right Now (Na Na Na) by Akon, I’m Yours by Jason Mraz, Paramore’s Decode and even the infectious danceable ditty of Beyonce, Single Ladies.
The album launched Princess as singer and her incredible voice entitled her to become the country’s newest ”Acoustic Princess”. But as we attempt to get a closer look of her, she gained the attention of the public, not in her singing but in something else. According to gossip columns, she is no other than “The Woman Who Started It All”. Accordingly, she is reason why almost all of the steamy videos of a certain doctor were publicly distributed because of a relationship that ended up a very complicated manner.
But on the lighter side, Princess’ performances on Addicted To Acoustic are truly praiseworthy. Also because of the current hit selections, the album had no hard time breaking into one of the best-seller albums in major record bars. Booming with sales, it was awarded Gold Record status despite the fact that Princess is a newcomer. Princess excels with her album but still there still much more to be discovered and to be proven.
