Film career 2008/2010

Boyle's first documentary film Coming Clean won two awards at the 2010 New York International Film Festival for best film and audience award.

The premise of the documentary was that Boyle takes a camera crew into New York's dangerous crack houses to find one person who will voluntarily go into rehab at the expense of the film. What starts out as a cautionary tale with a planned happy ending, suddenly becomes something very different.

Future work

In October 2011, it emerged Boyle is preparing to shoot a screenplay in Toronto titled Yonge and Bloor. The film will provide an unconventional account of a dying mans last few days after he physically survives a horrific car accident in which his wife is killed. Filming will begin in Canada March 2012.

Controversy

In 1996 he invested in an AJ Hackett bungy jumping franchise with two other business partners.

On Friday May 24, 1996, as a publicity stunt, he entered the Hong Kong Stadium
