Career

Nielsen served as U.S. Vice Consul in Moscow, Russia in 1918 and in Stockholm, Sweden from 1918 to 1921. He would then serve as U.S. Consul in Berlin, Germany from 1921 to 1924; Dublin, Ireland from 1924 to 1926; and Tehran, Iran from 1927 to 1929. Later, he would serve as U.S. Consul General in Munich, Germany, where he was able to report on the actions of Germany
