Night on Bröcken
Encyclopedia
Night on Bröcken is the debut album by Fates Warning
, released in September 1984. In 2002, Metal Blade Records
released a remastered version of this album which contained bonus tracks.
The title of the album is apparently a reference to The Brocken
, a mountain in Lower-Saxony (Germany) that is traditionally connected with witches (Walpurgis Night
), most famously in Goethe's Faust
. The reference becomes apparent on two original album covers that "were scrapped prior to major distribution". The spelling is a typical example of a "metal umlaut".
