Honeybuns were first invented by Howard Lee Griffin in Greensboro, NC. Griffin, a small bakery owner, enjoyed making pies. He later tried new recipes and thus, behold the honeybun. Later on, he sold the recipe to different companies, including Mrs. Freshley's. The recipe was originally sold for a sum of $250.
