The course varies from year to year but is always extremely demanding. The winner is determined by who covers the most distance in the 24 hour period. The current course records are:
- Female Jari Kirkland in 2004 - 122.33 miles (196.9 km) - 25926 feet (7,902.2 m) climbed
- Male Josh Tostado in 2005 - 156 miles (251.1 km) covered - 32350 feet (9,860.3 m) climbed
