Although Belgrano's fans didn't want him to leave the club as the team was fighting for promotion to the first division, Suàrez signed a contract with Anderlecht in May 2008. In the 2011/2012 season, the then 23-year-old was the only hat-trick scorer on UEFA Europa League matchday one, inspiring Anderlecht to a 4-1 home win over AEK Athens FC.
