Martin W. Clement was the 11th president of the Pennsylvania Railroad
(PRR).

In 1935 PRR's operating revenues were $368 million. Under Clement, they grew to a peak of over $1 billion in 1944. One of his great accomplishments was the electrification of PRR's lines from New York City to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, DC, and Harrisburg. He introduced more streamlined locomotives, and passenger cars that were air-conditioned. By the end of World War II, PRR controlled more than 20% of American passenger traffic and 11% of freight traffic.
