Kariapper made a second Parliamentary comeback when he was elected to Parliament at the 1965 parliamentary election to represent Kalmunai
, this time as a independent candidate. However, he was removed from Parliament within months under the Civil Disabilities (Special Provisions) Act due to his 1960 corruption conviction.
