M&G Investments

M&G is a leading investment manager in the UK and overseas. It is an autonomous business within the Prudential Group, running its own retail and institutional funds operation and functioning as the asset manager for Prudential in Europe. Currently M&G is the official sponsor of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
M&G invests in and manages a wide range of assets including Equities, Fixed Income and Property. M&G also manages more esoteric assets within the private finance arena such as Structured Products (including CDOs), Leveraged Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance.

Municipal & General Securities Company Limited launched the unit trust industry in the UK in 1931. Since then M&G has had a history of firsts, including the launch of:

• the first UK regular savings plan in 1954

• the first unit trust for charities in 1961

• the first equity income fund in 1964

• the first recovery fund in 1969

• the first Japanese equity fund in 1971

• the first commodity fund available to retail investors in 1976

• the first ‘pure' corporate bond fund in 1994

• the first high yield corporate bond fund in 1998

• the first Leveraged Loans Fund in Europe in 2005

International presence

M&G manages assets on behalf of a wide range of investors across UK, Europe, Asia, the Americas and South Africa. The past few years has seen an expansion of M&G’s distribution network throughout Europe:

• 2001 – Opened its first office in mainland Europe to service clients based in Germany, Austria and Luxembourg

• 2004 – Opened an office in Milan, Italy

• 2005 – Opened offices in Vienna, Frankfurt and Madrid, and began distribution into Switzerland

• 2007 – Opened an office in Paris, France

Management structure

Michael McLintock is the Chief Executive of M&G a position he held at the time of M&G's acquisition by Prudential in March 1999. He is also an executive director of Prudential.

Simon Pilcher is a Director of M&G Limited and has been the Chief Executive of the Fixed Income division since 1999.

William Nott is Chief Executive of M&G Securities, the combined Retail Business covering the UK, Europe and Asia since March 2006.

Grant Speirs was appointed Group Finance Director of M&G in November 2008.

Martin Lewis has been the Chief Operating Officer for M&G Group since 1999.

Anthony Ashplant has been the Legal and Compliance Director of M&G since 1997.

Gareth Jones was appointed HR Director for M&G Group in June 2007.

Les Scrine has been the M&G Group Risk Director since March 2003.

Martin Moore has been head of PruPIM, the real estate investment arm of M&G since 1996
