Dassin served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1992-1998. He then was in private practice until he returned to that district in 2005 as Chief of its Criminal Division. He rose to the position of Deputy United States Attorney for the District in January of 2008.
Despite only serving eight months Dassin oversaw many high-profile cases. His office prosecuted Bernard Madoff
