The station was built by Alfred Grenander and A.Fehse in 1929. In the 30s the southern tunnel was elongated and it served as air raid protection.
In the 60s the tunnel was then used for parking of subway trains. In 1996 finally the subway station Hermannstrasse was built so people have now a direct access to the S-Bahnstation one stop after Leinestrasse.
The color of this station is light green, as one can see by the green tiles on the walls.
