Lai Châu Dam

The Lai Châu Dam is an under-construction hydroelectric dam on the Da River in Nậm Hàng commune, Mường Tè District, Vietnam
. Construction started on 5 January 2011 and it is expected to be operational by 2017 by the first turbine put into operation in 2016. The ground clearance works and relocation of people was completed by September 2010.
The power station will have three turbines with a capacity of 400 MW each. The total capacity will be 1,200 MW. When constructed, it will be the third largest hydroelectric power station in Vietnam. It is expected to cost US$1.8 billion.
