, he went to America at the age of fifteen. He was educated at St. Charles's Seminary
, Philadelphia, and in the Propaganda College, Rome
where he was ordained a priest in 1848. In 1885, the Diocese of Omaha
was created, and Bishop O'Connor was appointed its first bishop. Bishop O'Connor died in 1891.
