J.W. Mitchell's marching band, called the Marching Mustangs, has received many awards and accolades over the course of Mitchell's history. The Marching Mustangs are highly competitive and attend shows such as the Seminole Sound Spectacular, Hurricane Pride Invitational, and the Tarpon Springs Music Festival. They have received awards such as 1st place overall in the 2007-2008 Hurricane Pride Invitational, and 1st place percussion in divisional AAA during state championships.
