History

The firm was founded by Jake Harness in the Detroit area in 1921, where its establishment served to grow with the auto industry. In 1925, Art Dickey and Hodgson Pierce joined the firm as partners.

The firm currently ranks 5th in Intellectual Property Today's survey of the Top Patent Firms, based on the number of US patents issued in the firm's name in 2009.
