. This station is now the terminus of a heritage railway
. The TWE now operates freight traffic only.
In the station building there is a tourist bureau, where tickets can be purchased. There is also has a restaurant/bistro, a bakery, a mini-supermarket and a station bookshop.
The first electric locomotive hauled a special train to Gütersloh station on 26 September 1968. On that day the section between Hamm and Wunstorf
was electrified, completing electrification between the Ruhr
and Hanover
.
On the platform edges of platform tracks 1 and 4 there were until recently recognisable marks of World War II
bombs. The platforms are currently being renovated and converted to give access for the disabled.
