In 1982, Bosco won the Democratic nomination for , which had been renumbered from the 2nd District after redistricting. In a major upset, he defeated 20-year incumbent Don Clausen
by just over two points. He went on to serve four terms in the House, but lost by only 1.5 points in 1990 to Republican
