Production

The CD was released October 1, 2008. Its running time is 77 minutes and 33 seconds long. In this dramatization, the original Lovecraft story is slightly edited, both for time and the format; for example, the scene where Peaslee's family are frightened by his amnesiac personality are 'shown,' not merely referred to.

Troy Sterling Nies provided an original score, as with the other H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society productions. The cast features an ensemble of fifteen professional Los Angeles actors.

The CD includes a number of props from the story, including: a page from the British Medical Journal describing Peaslee's dreams (includes a sketch of the dream city), a shore-to-ship Marconi-Gram informing Peaslee of the expedition's discoveries, a page from the Arkham Advertiser describing Peaslee's collapse, and a page from Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten, in German.
