Morhaim was first elected to the Maryland House in 1994, and re-elected in 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. He represents the 11th district (northwest Baltimore County).

In the legislature

Delegate Morhaim serves as House Deputy Majority Leader, Chair of the Joint Committee on Health Care Delivery and Finance, and chair of the Government Operations sub-committee. He is the only physician in the 141-member House of Delegates. In the 2010 session, Del. Morhaim is introducing bipartisan legislation to allow medical marijuana.
