school in Somerset and then joined the British Army

and then with various private security firms. He and Sir Ranulph Fiennes
spent some four years organizing the Transglobe Expedition and raising money. After the expedition, Burton returned to the security business. He never went on another expedition. He died at his family home in the village of Framfield
