Early works
In 2003, Hernández's friend Hugo Félix Mercado persuaded him to start making short documentaries for Element Productions, a provider of corporate films for private companies. Hernández agreed and produce the independently financed La orquesta sinfónica de mujeres. Inspired by this early success, Hernández began working on his second short documentary, En el desierto deportán (2005). A third short film, 10:15 (2006) was filmed just before his first feature Those with no names win recognition in several festivals (see below).Awards and recognition
