2004

2000

1996 (Special)

2001 Redistricting

As San Mateo County did not grow as rapidly as the rest of the state in the 1990s, the 8th Senate District needed to pick up population. The 8th moved southward, picking up Foster City, Portola Valley, and Half Moon Bay. The 15th moved northward, taking Saratoga and Los Gatos from the Santa Clara side of the 11th. These two movements pushed the 11th into Santa Cruz County, where it took just the coastal portions to Capitola, including the city of Santa Cruz.
