The short was inspired by the memories from past experiences the filmmakers had from being home schooled during childhood.
The two boys go into Bobby's room, where the floor is dominated by loose Lego. When Adam tries to build with some of the lego, Bobby quickly stops his fun by forcing him into playing with some stuff Bobby has already put together. Bobby's mom asks him to take out the trash, while outside Bobby's neighbor and his neighbor's friend rush over, wanting to play with Bobby's Nerf gun. Bobby begins playing with the gun, aiming at a cup that he has made Adam hold in order for him to shoot. Bobby's neighbor becomes impatient with waiting for his turn, and begins wrestling Bobby for the gun; the two boys scuffle to the ground, where Bobby is punched while his mom calls the boys in for dinner.
During dinner Bobby's mom invites Adam to spend the night, and won't take no for an answer.
Bobby goes to sleep on his bed, and Adam takes the floor, where during the night Bobby knocks a glass of water over on Adam's head.
While Adam goes into the bathroom to clean off, he overhears Bobby's mother in the kitchen presumably on the phone with her landlord, explaining how sorry she is for not paying the rent on time; Adam begins feeling sorry for the family, and goes to bed.
In the morning, the newly sympathetic Adam says goodbye to Bobby and his mother; Bobby asks if he could go to Adam's house next week, to which Adam replies with a hopeful "maybe."
Adam is then picked up by his mother and taken home.
