The Bishops' Blue Coat Church of England High School is a secondary school

It is also an affiliated school of the Woodard Group of Schools.
The Bishops’ High School is the only Anglican secondary school in the Cheshire West & Chester Local Authority and at present one of only two within the Chester Diocese. The other, Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School, is in Warrington.
Since 1984 the school has grown in size. Today 1060 attend, including 160 sixth form students. A massive investment in new buildings and facilities has accompanied this growth in numbers. The school is regularly oversubscribed in all years.
The school also achieved its best ever GCSE results. 83% of its Year 11 students achieved at least 5 A*-C grades, with 68% attaining 5A*-C including English and Mathematics.
In 2010, 79% of pupils achieved 5 or more A* - C grades and 58% achieving 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths. In the 6th Form 53% of grades obtained at A Level were A*-B grades.

The Deputy Headteacher oversees the work of the council and arranges meetings, minutes and liaison with the Governor Pupils’ Committee and others affected by the Council’s work. The Council consists of 2 councilors per year group.
The school does not currently have a school council due to the change from a science college to an academy.

Many teachers, support staff and students contributed to the school’s success in gaining the award. The kitchen staff work hard to produce healthy food that staff and students enjoy, and students learn about healthy eating in lessons. Physical activity is strongly promoted, with PE staff willing to supervise a huge number of sports on offer both in lessons, at lunchtime, after school, and at weekends, supported by dedicated students and parents who are trained as coaches. Emotional health is also promoted, and the school has been commended for its supportive, caring Christian ethos which enables students to make progress and achieve well.

School History
The Bishops’ Blue Coat Church of England High School was founded in 1984 after an agreement between Cheshire County Council and the Church of England. The Bishops of Chester and Birkenhead were instrumental in the school’s foundation.The Bishops’ High School is the only Anglican secondary school in the Cheshire West & Chester Local Authority and at present one of only two within the Chester Diocese. The other, Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School, is in Warrington.

Academy Status
The results of a consultation between 14 December 2010 and 13 January 2011 indicated a clear majority of parents, staff and the wider community to be in favour of the school applying for Academy Status. The Bishop of Chester, the Diocesan Board of Education and the Blue Coat foundation expressed their support for the change of status, and The Bishops' Blue Coat C of E High School became an Academy on the 1st April 2011.Exam Results

The School Council
The school has a long standing School Council which was originally established in 2002. It aims to provide a forum for pupils to become partners in their own education and make a positive contribution to the school environment and ethos. It aims to:- Improve academic performance

National Healthy School Standard
The school has been awarded the National Healthy Schools Standard. The standard is awarded as part of the Healthy Schools Programme which promotes whole school health. To win the award, the school had to show that it was working hard to help its students to be emotionally and physically healthy.Many teachers, support staff and students contributed to the school’s success in gaining the award.
