channel for about 4 years. The story focuses on the concept of women's identity. The story is about Dr. Simran Mathur, a gynecologist who enters a complex situation when she marries a man 10 years younger. It also shows the struggles in her life.
The story begins at Rashmi’s wedding. Simran’s parents worry that their oldest daughter is unmarried even though she is in her mid-thirties. Simran is unable to attend her own sister’s wedding because she has to operate on critical patient - Anandi.
Simran’s saves Anandi’s life and Anandi’s brother, Abhimanyu Saxena (a.k.a Abhi) is smitten by Dr Simran. Abhi woos Simran who resists his advances because he is ten years younger. In the meanwhile, Padma suspects that her husband Saurabh is having an affair with Anjali.
Simran falls in love with Abhi, and when Abhi proposes to her, she agrees. Simran and Abhi’s parents are against this match because of the age difference. Abhi and Simran elope and get married with the help of Simran’s good friend Dr Manas. Urmila, Dr Manas’s wife, is against her husband’s involvement in the marriage. She is jealous of her husband's friendship with Simran.
Because of the marriage Saurabh renounces his daughter and resigns from his job. He is depressed and angry because he believes his favorite daughter ruined her life and he finds solace in the arms of his mistress Anjali.
Kavita, who lives at her parent’s home with her husband Rohit, revels that she had harbored hatred towards her elder sister. She is jealous of Simran because Simran had always hogged their father’s attention. Kavita takes this opportunity to get back at Simran by making her life miserable with taunts and fueling fights with their father.
Simran and Abhi start their life living in Abhi’s studio. Abhi’s parents believe Simran seduced a younger man and in order to prey their son out of Simran’s clutches they invite the couple to live with them. Simran is mistreated at Abhi’s house but she doesn’t complain and tries to win them over with her love. Anandi also helps Simran in this endeavor. Abhi immaturity cases some fiction in their relationship but the couple is able to work things out.
In the meanwhile a new character Ashwin enters. Ashwin is Manas and Simran’s college mate. Ashwin is a flirt and he senses Urmila’s (Manas’s wife) displeasure and jealousy. In order to seduce Urmila, Ashwin offers her a job at his hospital.
Due to mistreatment of Simran at Abhi’s house they move out and start afresh in a new place. Abhi tastes success at work and dreams of expanding his business. He employs a new assistant, Kiran, a girl who changes his life forever. Simran is thrilled to learn that she is pregnant but Abhi gets nervous about impending parent hood. He even tries to dissuade Simran from having the baby. He gets into an extra marital affair with Kiran.
Rohit believes that his and Kavita's presence will never let Saurabh come closer to Simran. He decides to shift to a new house along with Kavita.
One night Saurabh takes his mistress Anjali to a pub and finds Abhi with his mistress Kiran! Saurabh and Abhi have an ugly confrontation. This event deeply hurts Simran as both her father and husband have let her down but Abhi is able to justify his actions.
Abhi abandons Simran emotionally while she goes through the complicated pregnancy. Abhi wins accolades for his work and rises in his career. He hurts Simran by giving credit to Kiran for all his success and also introduces Kiran to his mother. Abhi’s mother is impressed by Kiran, who is much younger than Simran.
Anjali meets Rohit and tries to charm him. Rohit takes this opportunity and schemes his friendship with Anjali in a manner that makes Kavita and Saurabh differentiate the right from the wrong.

Synopsis
“Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani” is the story of Dr Simran Mathur who is a renowned gynecologist. Simran is the oldest daughter of Saurabh (IAS officer) and Padma Mathur. She has two younger sisters Kavita (middle sister) and Rashmi (youngest sister), who are both married.The story begins at Rashmi’s wedding.
