Anthony E. Meyer

Anthony Edward Meyer is a private investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist who manages a family office, investment management company alongside his father, Edward H. Meyer [1], retired Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Grey Global Group. He is also a successful entrepreneur in the real estate, health care and education sectors.

Meyer was born in New York City in 1961, the youngest of two children and only son of Edward H. Meyer and Sandra R. Meyer. He graduated a John Harvard Scholar, magna cum laude in economics from Harvard College in 1982 and received an MBA, with honors, from Harvard Business School in 1984.

Meyer is President of Ocean Road Advisors, a family office, investment management company he co-founded with his father, Edward H. Meyer, in 2005. Ocean Road Advisors manages a diversified portfolio of public and private equities, hedge funds, real estate and venture capital investments. Ocean Road Advisors also oversees the Meyer Family Foundations, which are the vehicles for the Meyer family's charitable giving initiatives in the areas of Jewish causes, education, healthcare, child welfare, the environment and arts and culture.

In 2006, Meyer founded the American Academy (TAA), an accredited on-line private high school and educational services company which serves both high school-age and adult students seeking to earn or supplement a high school diploma. The Company has partnered with public high schools in several states through its Dropout Recovery Program™ in efforts to provide a high school education through non-traditional programs to at-risk students.

In 2004, Meyer founded Extend Health, Inc. to serve Medicare-eligible retirees and their corporate sponsors by offering defined contribution health plans [2] through their private Medicare exchange. In August 2010, Inc. 500|5000 ranked Extend Health no. 94 of 5,001 companies on their 2010 list of America's Fasted Growing Private Companies. Extend Health currently counts as its clients the state of Nevada [3] , the cities of Waco, Texas [4] and Hartford, CT, General Motors, Wal*Mart, AVON [5] and several other large corporations [6]. Extend Health has also partnered with Microsoft Corp. to offer new turnkley technology solutions to help states quickly roll out their statewide health insurance exchange

From 1994 through 2001, Meyer was a Managing Director at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, a leading global, private investment bank, where he was a founding partner of Lazard Frères Real Estate Investors LLC (LFREI), Lazard’s real estate investment management affiliate and the firm’s largest principal investment business. At LFREI, he served successively as Chief Investment Officer, Chief Operating Officer and President, International, on behalf of the firm’s $2.8 billion (equity) real estate private equity business.

Prior to joining Lazard, from 1984 to 1993, Meyer was a General Partner of Trammell Crow
Company, one of the largest diversified real estate companies in the U.S, where he co-founded
Trammell Crow Ventures, Crow’s investment management affiliate. He later served as
Trammell Crow Ventures’ Chief Investment Officer and led the $2.6 billion (equity) investment
management company’s efforts in real estate, private equity and venture capital.

Meyer is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, a Governor of the American Jewish Committee, a Director of Dr. Mehmet Oz’ Healthcorps and a Trustee of Macaulay Honors College of the City University of New York, where he serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence.

He resides in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
