, in 1880 and engaged in the farm implement and fertilizer business until 1896. He served as sheriff of York County from 1896 to 1899. He was a member of the board of directors of various business enterprises. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1910.
Brodbeck was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third
Congress, but was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1914. He was again elected to the Sixty-fifth
Congress. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1918. He was a delegate at large to the 1920 Democratic National Convention
. He retired in 1920 and died in Hanover. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
