The enterprise is founded as telephonic communicator, then diversified as internet portal site, which offers sufficient information by fast access and covers all movies that have been distributed in France. In 2005, AlloCiné spread its database to the TV series. It launched in 1993, before purchasing by Canal+
in 2000 and Vivendi Universal in 2002. The current owner is an American investment fund Tiger Global (part of Tiger Management
