. Bonnell then served as the city's recorder in 1853. He owned and operated a lumber mill, using wood. When the mill burnt down in 1856, he moved to the San Francisco area, which is in California. Bonnell is not that widely known, but he is remembered as being Portland's second mayor, and played a part in the history of Portland, and the United States as a whole.
