In 2006, Ms. Braveboy was elected to represent the 25th Legislative District in the Maryland General Assembly. She currently serves on the House Economic Matters Committee, as well as the Business Regulations, Consumer Protection and Alcoholic Beverage Subcommittees. She is the 2nd Vice Chair for the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland, Chair of the Prince George's County Delegation Bi-County Committee for WSSC, and a member of the Maryland's Women's Caucus.Legislative notes
Ms. Braveboy championed for the cause for consumer protection by sponsoring legislation addressing:- Mortgage foreclosures, and predatory lending practices;
- Unfair gas zone pricing schemes;
- Building a green economy in the state of Maryland;
- Protecting living wages and ensuring the quality of life for our communities;
- Raising the compulsory attendance age, thereby increasing the chance that young people will graduate with a high school diploma and continue to pursue higher education, promoting a better opportunity to succeed in this fast moving world of high science and advanced technology; and
- Funding for community-based non profits.
