My father-in-law, Francis X. Hayes, was a US Army man in Korea around 1953 2nd division 23rd Infantry Regiment Intelligence&Recon Platoon. He is in failing health but still sharp as a tack. We have a few pictures of him in Korea. He doesn't speak too much about his experiences there and has said that is why he never wants to leave home (Massachusetts) ever again! He never has asked for much & has always been generous and caring. Last week he asked me if I could find the documentary film, "Crevecoeur" AKA "HeartBreak Ridge", filmed in Korea by French director, Jaques Dupont. It was nominated for an Academy Award in 1956 in the Documentary Film category. He was 19 years old and in the film.
I'm hoping someone else who lived through that time in Korea may be able to help me.
