A patient was given an epidural and a continuos catheter was placed. The medication used was Fentany 2mcg/ml in 0.1% bupivicaine. The anesthesiologist said he did a cse. After about an hour and a half the pt became uncomfortable and it was discovered that the epidural infusion had accidentally been connected to the main IV line. The patient remained stable. Her BP and oxygen sat and all other vital signs never changed. The fetus remained stable although at delivery almost three hours later it became tachcardic with contractions, The fetus was born receivig apgars of 9/9 and had a cord ph of 7.31. It was tachcardic for about fifteen minutes after delivery and there appeared to be no ill effects. Could this cause any future long time effects on it's development?
